The Dragon's Neck is built on the objective of creating a world unique and detail-driven. With that in mind, we work together on this project passionately and for a variety of personal motivating factors. We do not develop, build, or contribute with an expectation of monetary gain, only that we might contribute to a project that surpasses the quality and experience of all others.

To accomplish this mission, we are always looking for contributors who are looking to stake a claim in this effort. No area of focus is off-limits. All developers are expected to maintain a high level of integrity & protect the confidentiality of the server itself. There are aspects of development that are intended to surprise the community, and leaking those is unacceptable. We take team work VERY seriously, and it is critical that any developers who aim to work on TDN commit to that same concept. We are eager to debate, however respect, honesty & integrity have to remain paramount.

If you are interested in contributing, please contact Aschent_ and Danuvis (in the same PM) on the Forums.

Application Basics

  • Discord Name:
  • TDN Login Name:
  • TDN Character Name(s):
  • Field of Expertise (Scripting/Area Design/Writer/3D Artist):
  • Timezone:
  • Why would you like to join the Development Team?
  • What experience do you have?
  • Anything else we should know?

Field-Specific Details

Area Design (Partners with Area-Design Director)
Please submit an area designed with vanilla assets to be considered. This should be a 4x4 area of any kind. Do not use any Encounters, scripting or triggers.
  • Please be as creative as possible.
  • Leverage placeables in a creative and unique manner.
  • Do not rely on the tileset to do the heavy lifting; enhance what exists with placeables.

Role Requirements:
  • Github usage (we can give a tutorial on usage).
  • Consistent output of area builds.

Scripting (Partners with Technical Director)
Please submit a sample module with a system you have designed and created. This does not need to be an overly complex system, what I am looking for is the ability to craft your code in a sensible manner that minimizes server strain on the CPU.

Also, as it relates to scripting:
  • GitHub usage will be required.
  • You'll need to take ideas and concepts and turn them into code.
  • Be able to advise and make recommendations on systems and implementation issues/challenges.
Role Requirements:
  • Consistency.
  • VSCode familiarity.
  • Github familiarity.
  • Proficient in NWScript.

Writer (Partners with Narrative Director)
This role requires a significant understanding of the current narrative changes that TDN has undergone, as well as the ability to craft narrative and dialog that is proper, efficient, and digestable across numerous facets. (NPC Conversations, Books, General Storytelling, etc).

Please submit a short-story under 1,000 words that showcases your ability to write creatively.

3D Artist (Partners with Art Director)
This role requires a few specific expectations (mentioned below). While we are unlikely to take on apprenticeship-type developers, if an interested individual submits an application that exceeds expectations and shows a personal effort to learn Blender and the processes, they will be considered. Those who are interested will need to consistently partner with the Art Director and development team to craft a standard-defining level of quality unlike anything NWN has seen in the past.

Role Requirements:
  • Familiarity with Blender & Neverblender.
  • An eye for quality & commitment to being thorough.
  • Collaborative mindset & receptive to feedback with a focus on improving one's craft.
Nice to Have:
  • Proficiency in skinmeshing.
  • Familiar with the NWN Workflow as it relates to file management. (Haks, .mdl, .tga/.dds, etc).
