We wanted to take a moment and give an OOC explanation for how we are going to approach the downtime, alongside a few higher-profile events/stories that were underway.While we acknowledge there was a plethora of DMed storylines before our downtime, most of those goings-on are going to be set aside in favor of the server’s Year One plot as well as faction focus.The universal canon will be the information posted here: https://www.dragonsneck.com/threads/the-end-of-rains-the-start-of-1370.356/#post-914.
While it’s meant to encompass things in broad strokes, it’s kept fairly open to allow for flexibility for what your characters might’ve been up to in that time.
While these events are fine to keep as canon for your characters, keep it vague.In general, it’s acceptable to stretch out some of these encounters throughout the IC eight month downtime; perhaps {John Murann} encountered a strange shadow wolf sighting months after {Sam Athkatla} did. “How strange, I wonder if that’s related? Ah, anyways, let’s go visit Mary for a pint.”
This is not an all-encompassing list of all the encounters. Please open a DM ticket in the Discord if significant plot threads need addressing.If anyone feels as though they cannot resolve these plotlines themselves independently, please open a DM ticket and we will work with you to find a solution.
Additionally, if you had direct engagement with a DM where commitments were made, please open a DM ticket so we can clarify/acknowledge the state of things.As for plotlines moving forward, they will focus on emphasizing lower fantasy scope to align with TDN’s low fantasy vision.Sincere apologies for anyone that is negatively impacted by the changes. How should I acknowledge the downtime?
- TDN time and IRL time are 1:1. This means it’s been around eight months IC that has passed.
- Best practices are to keep it vague;
- Tracking IRL time can be difficult as is, don’t stress about keeping a weekly calendar of what your PC was up to every day. Sweeping generalizations (“I was at the library”, “I was familiarizing myself with Murann”, “I got really into knitting”,) are more than sufficient.

What about [X] plotline I was involved in?
As previous DMs are not able to run the setups they had in mind, we as the current DM team don’t feel comfortable picking up where they left off, potentially delivering subpar storylines in their absence. If possible, try to reference those plots as oddities as chance-encounters.Tablets
Assume these artifacts were reclaimed by the respective factions relevant.- For Murann and the human city location, assume the artifacts were reclaimed by the guards and have had their handlings obscured from the public.
- For the Wealdath, assume the Conclave and Y’Tellarien council confiscated the tablets and have handled them internally.
