The Dragon's Neck Dev Update
We're pleased to bring some new updates around development, beta and some changes to PRCs. Also, something to be aware of. I (Aschent) recently adjusted privacy settings on Discord so that non-friends cannot DM. This was a preventative measure to slow the expected influx of DMs that will come as we approach Beta and begin Beta. (No, I didn't block you). For the time being, reaching out to me via Private Message here on the Forum is the best way to get ahold of me or bring something to my attention.
Let's jump in:
Beta Timeline:
We're on pace for our mid-to-late November timeframe for Beta. Details below on how to apply for the Closed-Beta portion. A few things to keep in mind for Beta:
- Beta will have a fresh empty vault for Beta characters that will be wiped for launch. Characters prior to beta will be brought back for the actual launch alongside the announced changes for previous characters when the beta is complete. Beta characters will likely be wiped or reset during beta.
- RP is not expected and will not be recognized by Devs/DMs.
- Although various weeks will have a "focus" for the Beta testers, it is important to dig into any available systems.
- Not all systems planned for launch will be available, throughout Beta we plan to continuously add systems for players to test and try out.
A few things to be aware of:
- Applications should be sent to Aschent_ on the forums via PM/Conversation.
- Testing TDN comes with experiencing new territory that others will not have seen yet. We ask that all testers keep what they observe confidential so that others may experience the content fresh on their own.
- Each week or two, we will have new focus areas for testers to review.
- The first priority is finding bugs.
- The second priority is finding balance issues.
- Your feedback is extremely valuable, the more cohesive and detailed information you provide, the better.
- We'll start with around 15 Beta testers and expand from there based on need.

Updates to Existing PRCs:
Throughout our Redevelopment phase, we have been reviewing all available classes and making what we feel are necessary adjustments to the classes. It is important that anyone who play on TDN grasp that traditional character builds will likely not be the standard for maximizing your character. Although we're certain that some of the community will find the strongest possible character build possible, we encourage players to play what they feel they will enjoy.
Removed PRCs:
- Dragon Disciple
- Dwarven Defender
- Harper Scout
- Shifter
- Blackguard
- Pale Master
Modified PRCs:
- Arcane Archer
- Assassin
- Bladesinger
- Divine Champion [Previously Champion of Torm]
- Shadowdancer
- Weapon Master
- Blighter
- Dread Necromancer
- Favored Soul
- Hexblade
- Spirit Shaman
- Swashbuckler
- Warlock
Base Class Changes:
- Bard, Ranger & Paladin spell lists that previously had 0 (Zero) listed, will now be replace by 1.
- Hide in Plain Sight now has a 60 second cooldown.
- Each Shadowdancer Level reduces this cooldown by three seconds.
A good amount of time over the last month was invested in upgrading our development process and workflow. Although this isn't very exciting for the community at large, we expect to see some significant improvements around how we operate as a Development team and ensure that problems and updates are easier to deploy. Additionally it will streamline the experience for newer developers so they have access to the content necessary to contribute.
