Hello. I would like to put forward the idea that it would be beneficial for the server to reinstate these two classes. Here are a few arguments in favor of this:

  • These classes are part of what made TDN unique and attracted many players to play here. Of course, they are not the only reason. I find the idea of encountering a Dread Necromancer with their three undead minions while wandering through a forest to be very exciting.

  • In my opinion, and you are free to do as you see fit, if you want anti-spellcaster sentiment to develop, there need to be reasons for it. People won’t do anything wrong with their magic if they have nothing malicious to do with it. Blighters and Dread Necromancers could infect nature or corrupt the living, providing very concrete reasons for an increase in anti-magic sentiment.

  • A lot of work has already been put into designing and technically implementing these two classes. There may be bugs, and certainly some balance adjustments to make, but it would be a great shame if all that hard work were done in vain.
If you ultimately decide to abandon these two classes—which would be a real loss—then at the very least, undead summoning needs to be revised because it is currently too weak. Why would a mage or cleric take the considerable and potentially deadly RP risk of practicing necromancy if all they get in return is something only slightly tankier than a normal summon of the same level? This makes no sense, both in terms of roleplay and gameplay.
There is no need to reassess the power of each undead summon on a case-by-case basis. Instead, an undead summoner should simply be able to summon three undead at once, as was the case with some of the Dread Necromancer's spells.

Focusing specifically on the 2nd point you have here. There is nothing stopping you from doing something intentionally antagonistic with magic at this current time. People simply don't because of the current ecosystem. If anything now is the perfect time to start sowing the seeds of anti-magic manifestations if you're so inclined to do so. You do not need a special class for it right now.

Returning back to the first and third points. The classes were disabled for this launch and while it would be fun to see them back its not only the least of the concerns right now, it'd also be silly to bring them back when we're in a situation of other options being available and not utlizied. Why go to all the struggle of making and having to balance an entrely new class for reasons that currently aren't explored anyway?
