Hear me out.
Without an adventurer's income, it's a little rough out here for civilians. I don't really care about the other licenses -- the economical license for example isn't too bad, it's just 70 sp -- but I feel a little nervous about the nationality writ for its price. I could probably theoretically make enough money if I did my character's job shift whenever I could for as long as I could, but 1) there's only so much On The Job RP my brain can take and 2) I still have to buy things day-to-day. The job my PC has pays really well, but even then, I've not had more than 48 sp at one time in my bag since starting from 0 (long story) as I end up having to buy stuff like noticeboard notices, normal paper, outfit items, etc. I imagine the cash-flow problem for civilians will in part be solved by the addition of crafting, but as of now, civs just don't have as many avenues toward making enough money to stay afloat as other playstyles do. That on its own is fine; I like the civilian playstyle. I only wish I could afford it.
For reference, the least I try to make is 10 sp. If I stay for longer, I'll make more; like 15-18 sp or so. But say that I only stay for my minimum time and make 10 sp per shift: that'd be 20 shifts I would have to do to make ~200 sp, and I would have to spend nothing in between. Realistic struggle, at least.
Low priority issue, I think, but yeah. Either civs commit to the ol' 9-5, get tips (if they have a tipping job), or make up a side hustle people are willing to throw money at; or a number of things. It's likely possible with the right grindset, but I'm addicted to chilling out. Thanks for reading!
