Modifications
The creation of wands and scrolls has been overhauled, with numerous changes from vanilla:
- Experience cost has been removed, currency cost remains the same. (The cost will be tested and modified over the course of beta testing.)
- Wands are created with 25 charges total, with a max of 5 uses per day/per rest.
- The scrolls and wands created can be traded or sold to players, but they cannot be sold to NPCs.
- Scrolls are created with the minimum caster level required to cast the scroll, instead of a pre-determined level. (A scroll of fireball has a caster level of 5). Due to the change in caster level, the cost of creating numerous scrolls and wands may be much cheaper.
- Wands and scrolls expire after a week.
- A wizard can still learn spells into their spellbook by using a player made scroll, but they will need to do so by targeting the item with the new wizard feat: learn scroll. the functionality is otherwise the same as learning a normal scroll.
Crafting Points
All characters that have at least one level in a caster class capable of scribing a scroll or creating a wand will be alloted a number of points every 24 hours equal to their caster level. These points do not accumulate over time. If the caster is a wizard, they gain an additional 3 points every 24 hours. If a character has multiple casting classes they will not gain additional points.
In order to scribe a scroll it will cost one point per level of the spell to create (in addition to the gold cost). For example in order to make a scroll of fireball it will cost 3 points.
In order to create a wand it will cost two points to level of the spell to create (in addition to the gold cost). For example in order to make a wand of fireballs it will cost 6 points.
