Warlock Patrons: Slaad Lords
Concerns: Insanity, Madness, Anarchy, Chaos
Symbol: Golden Slaad
Descriptors: Introduce insanity and chaos into stable environments; introduce madness and anarchy into armies, families, towns, and governments
Ssendam, Slaad Lord of Insanity, is the oldest and most powerful Slaad Lord who floats freely in the roiling chaos-stuff of Limbo, a huge golden amoeba devouring anything that comes too close. Ssendam has never been known to leave Limbo, and it is said that she is forever contacting the minds of mortals on other planes to render them mad. She seems to have little concern for the slaadi race, or for anything else, for that matter. Ssendam has no cultists, at least none that she cares for. All slaadi and other inhabitants of Limbo who know of her existence avoid Ssendam, lest they become her next meal. Visitors to Limbo are cautioned to avoid any large amorphous yellow goo. It is rumored that Ssendam grows strong by feeding on the psychic trauma of insane beings, especially those in whom she caused madness and while she has no religious cults, she will occasionally make a pact with a warlock towards these ends. These pacts are believed to give her a more direct connection to the insanity of mortals. These pacts are always secret and no warlock may speak of their patron as slaadi are forbidden from acting like deities or spreading knowledge of “Slaad Lords”.
Chaos Creed
By Reason of Insanity: Ssendam cares not for long-term goals or plots, only the collapse of order. Introduce insanity and madness into all places of order and law.
Bring it Crashing Down: Authority only means to suppress chaos; anarchy must reign. Plant seeds of dissent and defiance among groups and organizations.
Secrecy: The Slaad Lords must remain a secret. The only consistent thing about your patron is the command to never speak of your patron.
Chourst, Lord of Randomness (Slaad Lord) CG, CN, CE
Concerns: Randomness, Unpredictability, Chaos
Symbol: Anything (and must be changed once a month)
Descriptors: Whimsical, Doesn’t finish things, indiscriminate indulgence,
Chourst is the incarnation of chaotic unpredictability, the erratic Lord of Randomness. At one moment Chourst is tearing some githzerai to pieces, the next moment he is stopping to smell a flower. Chourst is the third of the Slaad Lords and cares little of the affairs of other slaadi. He is too chaotic and independent to worry about anything other than his own whimsical passions. Chourst is an odd combatant because most fights don't hold his attention long enough for him to finish them. Instead, he forsakes the battle halfway through for something else that catches his eye. However, Chourst never allows himself to come to harm by ignoring a dangerous threat, and he disables or kills anything he perceives as harmful. Chourst has neither followers nor resources and is the only other Slaadi Lord (excluding Bazim-Gorag) to make pacts with warlocks. Despite the command to not act like a deity and spread any knowledge of the Slaadi Lords, Chourst secretly makes these pacts to quench the unquenchable drive for chaos. These pacts always strive to bring unpredictability into the realm of mortals as its rumored Chourst feeds off the emotions of those reacting to uncertainty and confusion.
At Random Creed
Hit-Or-Miss: Those in service to Chourst are often unhelpful due to constantly being distracted, and changing course. It may be carefree whim, erratic emotions, sudden change of course, or simply the desire to do whatever you want in the moment without care towards consequence - no matter the method, you are expected to act randomly and be unpredictable.
Wings of Love: Love, hate, who cares! But don’t settle for too long. You must live a life of flighty, ever-changing love and hate.
Secrecy: The Slaad Lords must remain a secret. The only consistent thing about your patron is the command to never speak of your patron.
Bazim-Gorag, The Firebringer (Primordial & Slaad Lord) CN, CE, NE
Concerns: Fire, Murder, Death, Destruction, Despair
Symbol: Flaming Glaive
Descriptors: Enjoyment of battle - long and drawn out; Not aggressive towards those who can aid him; physically strong; destruction with fire, Wanton Destruction
Bazim-Gorag is a slaad lord, one of the most powerful slaadi in existence, tainted by the same malignant forces that transform gray slaad into death slaad. Like the other slaad lords, Bazim-Gorag is a champion of chaos. He hungers to spread chaos through unchecked destruction, murder, woe - and fire. Bazim-Gorag creates conflagrations and wields fire with all the malevolent glee of a mighty red dragon. Bazim-Gorag’s followers are always on the lookout for new recruits, especially for spellcasters who could help them complete the rite of unbinding. Bazim-Gorag himself might attempt to recruit any adventurers who wander into his lair if he thinks they could be of service to him and they are capable of assisting in his release. He might even offer the treasure located in his chamber as payment to anyone who can release him from his prison; of course, the treasure has also been promised to many of his current followers. Anyone approaching the cult with a professed interest in joining it is taken to one of its leaders, Flame Lord Moskogg, to be questioned thoroughly by both magical and mundane means. Those who pass this initial test and might be of use in releasing Bazim-Gorag are then passed on to Flame Lord Durzhal before finally being brought before the Firebringer himself.
Bazim-Gorag has gathered a cult of evil followers who have dedicated themselves to freeing him from his magical prison. Some are drawn by his promises of reward, both in treasure and power, while others are simply attracted by the prospect of chaos and destruction that his freedom would release upon the North. Some even hope to one day bend Bazim-Gorag to their own will and use him to further their own goals.
Destruction Creed
Wreak Havoc: Little else spreads chaos like wanton destruction. Leave ruin and wreckage as clear signs of your path or presence.
Firestorm: As a primordial of fire, Bazim-Gorag wields it with deadly pleasure and demands his servants spread fire to touch all corners of Faerûn. Use fire as your mechanism for destruction and death.
Fiery Heart: Fire is hot and volatile and so should be your heart. You’re quick to accept friends, but just as quick to abandon one if crossed.
